Everyone needs a good editor, including family historians who have drafted a family history and professional genealogists looking to maintain their image with clean content for their websites, client reports, books/guides, or lecture slides and handouts. Brass Oak Genealogy offers three different levels of editing to suit the needs of the client:
- Developmental editing provides assistance to the author during manuscript development in terms of content and organization. (Sometimes this happens earlier during the concept or outline stages of a project.)
- Substantive editing focuses on the overall integrity of the manuscript, which often results in rewrites, revisions, and reorganization of content for clarity, logic, and presentation.
- Copy editing focuses on the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of the manuscript, which usually results in corrections, fact verification, and questions to the author when issues arise.
